Yinson Ghana named the ‘Most Outstanding CSR Company’ by the Petroleum Commission

Yinson Ghana recently won the ‘Most Outstanding CSR Company’ award at the inaugural 2023 Local Content Conference and Exhibition ‘Awards Night’. The recognition is part of the Petroleum Commission’s effort to celebrate the achievements and contributions made by Upstream Petroleum Companies towards the Development of Local Content in Ghana. The Petroleum Commission regulates, manages and coordinates upstream petroleum activities and other support services in the petroleum sector.

Yinson Ghana Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator, Mr Edward Mensah, “Our objective is to positively impact the lives of the people in our host communities. We did not know we would get an award. This recognition will even spur us to do more for our communities.”

The annual Local Content Conference addresses key issues within the Upstream Petroleum Industry, emphasising the maximisation of local business, workforce, and resource involvement. The primary objectives are to promote economic development, skills transfer and overall sustainability in Ghana’s Petroleum activities. Apart from the achievement of ‘Most Outstanding CSR Company’, Yinson was also nominated for 2 other categories, the ‘Outstanding Training and Capacity Building’, and the ‘Outstanding Local Content Initiative’.

Yinson continues to champion and invest in community development in the areas in which we operate. One of Yinson’s core CSR missions is to promote quality education and effective learning for all. Most notably in 2023, Yinson Ghana launched the Yinson Girls Education Programme. This programme which will be held annually, aims to improve Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) studies among female students and reduce poor academic performance caused by Period Poverty. The programme is estimated to impact around 750 female students from upper primary to junior high in the Ahanta West Municipality.
